Gennady Yu. Illarionov, Doctor of Engineering, Professor, Chief Research Scientist of the Institute of Marine Technology Problems of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IMTP FEB RAS), Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation (RF).

Gennady Yu. Illarionov is an acknowledged expert in developing underwater robotic complexes (URC) scoped for military and special applications. He is an author of more than 350 scientific works, papers, and proceedings, including 30 monographs and 20 patents, and authorship certificates.

His main scientific results include:

  1. Creation of the new scientific field called research computer-aided design of URC scoped for military and special applications.
  2. Development of the research computer-aided design system for URC scoped for military and special applications.
  3. Development of several conceptions (projects) of URCs, which were included in roadmaps and programs for the creation of advanced models of military and special underwater robotics by the RF Ministry of Defence.

Illarionov G.Yu. raised three Doctor of Sciences and 24 PhDs.

He is a member of the Editorial Board of the "Underwater Investigations and Robotics" journal and Dissertation Councils at the S.O. Makarov Pacific Higher Naval University and the Far Eastern Federal University.

He was honored with the following state decorations: the third-class medal "For an honorable service in the Armed Forces of the USSR" (1982); the second-class medal "For an honorable service in the Armed Forces of the USSR" (1986); the first-class medal "For an honorable service in the Armed Forces of the USSR" (1991); the medal "Military veteran" (1997); honorary title "Honored Scientist of the RF" (2003).

While working in the IMTP FEB RAS (since May 2002), he completed many scientific assignments on providing a sustainable position of the IMTP FEB RAS in the Russian Federation's defense industry complex. He ensured that the IMTP FEB RAS obtained the necessary licenses to implement the State Defense Order. As a principal investigator, chief research officer, deputy chief designer, and chief designer, he completed a number of research and development projects. He is a member of the inеteragency task force on robotics of the Military and Industrial Commeete affiliated to the RF government and a developer of a project of the Russian Navy target program on underwater robotics.
